Abstract

|
|
This study was conducted to determine the effect of Uniconazole (UNZ) on the morphological changes and water loss of leaves in Pilea cadierei. The results were summarized as follows; Stem growth and numbers were decreased and leaves were thickened by UNZ treatment, and leaf width and leaf length decreased, too. Leaf width/leaf length ratio increased by UNZ treatment because leaf length decreased more than leaf width. Cuticle layer and palisade parenchyma cells were thickened by UNZ treatment, and palisade parenchyma cells were spread more densely in the leaves of treated plants than control. Fresh and dry weight of shoot decreased, while those of root increased by UNZ treatment. Water loss from leaves and pot compost decreased by UNZ treatment.
